Summer is finally here! What better way to mark the beginning of a new season than refreshing your home? Especially if you have some time off for the summer, it is the perfect opportunity to refresh your home. Here are some inexpensive ways to refresh your home for the summer!

Switch out darker decorations for lighter ones

Summer is all about bringing in the light, so it is the perfect time to switch out your dark pieces for lighter ones. For example, instead of darker curtains, choose lighter ones. If you can, you should also keep them open to let as much light in as possible, especially since the days are long. You can also switch out dark table centerpieces for lighter ones, or dark throw pillows for lighter ones. This will brighten up your home and help you get into the summer spirit by reflecting the bright summer light!

Replace your light bulbs

Another way to refresh your home for the summer is to replace your light bulbs. You can swap out your old light bulbs for bulbs that are brighter and more energy-efficient. This way, you will not only be brightening up your home with more light, but you will be reducing your energy consumption, too. Before you do this, though, make sure you buy light bulbs that use the correct amount of power (a value measured in Watts) for your light fixtures. Replacing your light bulbs is an inexpensive way to refresh your home for the summer.

Add more green by bringing in plants

Summer means more plants are growing! Since there are many plants sprouting outside, why not bring some inside? Adding plants to your home décor brings life into your space, which is perfect for the summer season. This can work even if you are not a “plant person.” If you don’t want the responsibility of watering plants, you can even some fake ones or get ones that don’t require much watering. They will have the same effect as real plants. Even if you only get small fake plants, they will still bring life into your home and will get you excited about summer.

Display your fruit

Continuing from the previous point, many fruits are also sprouting for the summer. Along with adding plants, you can display your fruit and use it as decoration before you eat it. Summer is a good time to eat fruit, so why not display the fruit in an aesthetically pleasing way? These fruit, like the plants, will bring life into your home. The bright colors of the fruit make them just as appealing to the eye, in addition to being tasty and refreshing! You can display your fruit in a cute little fruit basket. Fruit can serve as a nice decoration piece to refresh your home for the summer.

Add some new art

If you have not replaced the art on your walls for a while, consider doing so now. A new piece of art can completely transform the look of a room. For that reason, you should add some new art to refresh your home for the summer. Even once piece can make a difference. If you would rather make your own art, you can also do that! Creating your own art will add a personal touch to your home. Adding some new art is an easy, quick, and inexpensive way to switch things up in your apartment for a new season.

Have a “summer cleaning” day

Even if you had a “spring cleaning” day a few months ago, it is still a good idea to have a “summer cleaning” day. When your home is clean, it will feel fresh and ready for a new season. A summer day off is the perfect opportunity to deep clean your home and make it feel new. You will definitely feel refreshed when you have a clean home!

Declutter your home

Along the same lines, while you are doing your “summer cleaning”, you can declutter your home. This is the perfect time to lighten your load and remove unnecessary clutter for your space. If you are not using something, if you haven’t touched it in months, or if you know you won’t use it anymore, consider getting rid of it. Rather than throwing everything away, try to donate your things first. There is a good chance someone else WILL use the items you don’t want. Consider asking around for anyone who would like your items or donate them to a secondhand store. Decluttering your home is the perfect way to refresh your home and get a new start during the summer.

If you want to refresh your home this summer, try these things! They will not only brighten up your home, but they will bring life and light into it, which is exactly what summer is.
