Winter is a beautiful season, especially with the blanket of snow on the ground. For this new season, it’s a good idea to update your porch décor to match the changing weather. In this post, we will discuss winter porch decorating ideas that are cute and cozy!

String lights

The comforting string lights don’t have to come off before the new year! If you would like to keep that warm vibe on your porch for winter, you should consider keeping your Christmas lights up. If your lights are a neutral color (like yellow, blue, or white), it will be more acceptable to keep them up even after Christmas (as opposed to red or green lights, which will probably be better off for Christmas). String lights are a great winter porch decorating option.

Evergreen trees (or their branches)

Another piece of decoration that’s still acceptable after Christmas is an Evergreen (or Christmas) tree! Instead of planting flowers in your planter, which would be a better option for spring porch decorating, you could plant Evergreen tree branches in your planter. The greenery is definitely appropriate for winter but will still add a pop of color to your porch. For that reason, you should add some Evergreen branches to a planter on your porch this winter!

Pinecones

Along with Evergreen trees, pinecones are another great winter staple you can add to your porch. You can add them to your planter with the Evergreen trees, or you can add them to a wreath (more on that later on in the post) to add a warm vibe to your porch this winter. Be sure to add pinecones to your list of winter porch decorations!

Door wreath

Just like a Christmas wreath, you can add a wreath to your door as a winter porch decoration. To save money, you can slightly modify the one you used for Christmas. Your wreath will look less “Christmas-y” and more appropriate for winter if you remove anything red and add more white and brown accents to it. For example, you can add some pinecones to it or a white ribbon, rather than a red one. Using this trick, you can save money by re-using your current decorations, but still keep them up to date by simply changing a few things on them. A door wreath is a great piece to add to your winter porch decorations.

Vintage skis

When people think of winter, they often think of skis. If you have an old pair of skis, you can use them as a winter decoration for your porch. Using an old pair of skis as a decoration will give your porch a rustic feel while still maintaining the winter theme. And if you already have them lying around the house, it won’t cost you anything to just put them on your porch and arrange them in an aesthetically pleasing way. Vintage skis are a cheap, yet beautiful and appropriate piece of winter porch decoration.

LED candles

Of course, it’s not a good idea to have real candles burning outside when you are not there watching over them. However, LED candles will give your porch the same warm vibe that a real candle would give off, but without the danger of burning the house down! LED candles are cheap and battery powered, so they are easy to keep on your porch, even in the winter.

Wood planters

If you need somewhere to place your Evergreen branches and pinecones, a wood planter would be perfect! A wood planter will fit in nicely with the rustic winter theme of your porch decorations while also doing its job of housing a plant. A wood planter or two would be a great piece of winter decoration to include on your porch.

Modern lanterns

If you would like a place to put your LED candles, you can use a modern lantern. Bonus points if you get an LED candle that comes inside a lantern! A lantern will add a little more flair to your winter decorations.

Cute sitting area

A cute sitting area on a porch is important for the entire year, but for winter, you can add some decorations to the sitting area to make it warmer. For example, adding a fuzzy blanket or a throw pillow will do wonders for your porch sitting area.

Winter decorations can be tricky, especially for an outside area like your porch. Still, you can decorate your porch to match the changing season with a few tricks. By simply adding a few pieces of decoration, you can make your porch look amazing. And these decorations don’t have to be expensive, either! You can get a lot of them for only a few dollars.

If you use the ideas suggested in the article, you will have the prettiest, winter-appropriate, porch on the block.
