No Disrespect Here, But You are Hella Amazing
I want to take a moment right now to applaud someone very extraordinary.
This honorary individual is no saint and definitely not a role model, but they’re one of those rare diamonds that people usually don’t even bother to pull out from the ground and inspect with a magnifying glass. Thanks to Rihanna, I can say that they truly do shine like diamonds in the sky.
So without further ado, I want to say that you are freaking awesome.
Don’t act so shocked.
Seriously, don’t.
It’s making me blush.
I would hand you a very pretty gold medal or trophy, but I think that this might be just one of those times where I hand you a figurative medal and a figurative victory fanfare plays in the background. But okay, this isn’t the Olympics.
Very rarely do we stand up and look at ourselves in the mirror and scream, “Oh my God! Who is this Adonis staring back at me??”
Maybe you do, I do it too sometimes when my morale is pretty low. Ain’t no judgment here.
For the most part, we all go through our days trying to impress that crush who walks down the hall at exactly 2:45 p.m. for his 400 level Biology class (this is not stalking, just careful observation), or cramming for that one exam to show yourself and your professor that you do know what’s been going on for the past three months, or maybe you run laps all over the gym to eventually run down the stairs without feeling the ever nagging jiggle coming from your stomach.
We do a lot to improve ourselves and we’re constantly trying to reach a higher level of who we can be. Anybody will tell you how healthy it is to constantly want to better oneself. Being able to set goals and have a vision of who you want to become is vital. Soon we get so caught up in what’s the next thing we got to do and nothing ever becomes enough.
But sometimes, just stop.
Perhaps you’ll be sitting in the car waiting for the light to turn green, or in the bathroom getting your business done, or just watching a very very very serious episode of Adventure Time. Maybe that moment of “stopping” will come to you and you’ll drop whatever it is you’re doing and say, “Holy fuck. I am one fantastic human being.”
Because damn it, you are.
Say you’re awesome, be proud of what you have been able to do and don’t be afraid to feel good about being amazing.
Sometimes, you just got to give yourself a break and congratulate yourself on how far you’ve come, all that you’ve accomplished and the endless amount of fantastic that you will end up achieving.
